Students at National Central University (NCU) in Taiwan are building a new university space program! NCU has a long history of space science research, dating back to the International Geophysical Year of 1957/1958. And now NCU is now home to the Center for Astronautical Physics and Engineering (CAPE) - Taiwan’s first university space center for space weather research and small satellite design.

NCU will also establish Taiwan’s first Department of Space Science and Engineering, beginning in August 2020. Under the direction of Professor Loren Chang (the first STK Level 3 Grand Master in Taiwan), the students have been using STK to simulate the orbits of the spacecraft that they are developing, calculate communication access between the spacecraft and the NCU ground station, and estimate the amount of solar power that can be generated.
