On Tuesday an Atlas V rocket launched from the Air Force Eastern Test Range in Florida carrying SBIRS GEO-2 to orbit. This satellite is the second Space Based Infrared System Geosynchronous satellite. It's an upgrade to the U.S. infrared surveillance system that performs worldwide scans for ballistic missile launches.
